San Elijo State Beach

San Elijo State Beach has a lot to offer for surfers of all skill levels.  The San Elijo State Beach campgrounds line the majority of the coast for this stretch of surf, and there are many breaks to choose from, should any place be too crowded.  Staircases offer access down the cliffs to the beach, and several good breaks can be found right in front of the staircases.  The northern end of the park offers a long stretch of beach that eventually merges into Swami’s.  This beach can offer waves for both longboards and shortboards, but when the swell picks up you’ll probably want to use something shorter.  The break has a sandy bottom with pockets of sea grass reef, and is best on a rising tide.
