Charming Old School Oceanfront Bungalow

I have been vacationing in Oceanside since 2014. Love the eclectic, laidback vibe of this town. When the sweet bungalows on Hayes St. were demolished to build a modern condo complex, I didn’t know if I’d be able to find something else that was comparable. Thanks to the wonderful range of properties offered by Beachfront Only, I found this charming 1940s stand-alone bungalow right on The Strand and I don’t want to leave! It’s perfect and has everything I need. What more could you ask for when the ocean is right in front of your window? Staff is amazing and respond immediately if you need anything. The queen size bed in this one bedroom is extremely comfortable. I am definitely coming back and look forward to making more memories in Oceanside. Thank you, Beachfront Only staff for all your help and TLC. I’ve had a superb stay!

We absolutely love the small beach cottage so much that we were here in May and came back in October! My husband loves old cars so he can watch the waves and the car show as he says. I wouldn’t change a thing about this rental except the bed is a bit uncomfortable. But other than that it is perfect! We will be back again!

We enjoyed our stay, for the most part. A screen in the front door would of been nice, the unit did smell musty, but we got a candle and it helped a lot . The tv’s could be updated. and the screen in the bathroom had a rip in it . Unfortunately we didn’t have internet for our stay . That made it difficult.

Great location and perfect little beach cottage. My only complaint is it states that it sleeps 4 but the fold out couch was actually a futon and about the size of a twin bed. Luckily we had a 9 and 10 year old with us who barely squeezed onto the “bed”. It would be difficult/near impossible for 4 adults to stay at this property.

The location is ideal and the cottage was the perfect size for the two of us. Our only concerns were the toilet seat missing a pin to keep it in place and the mattress, which was rather uncomfortable to both of us. Even with these minor issues, we would absolutely return. The check-in and check-out processes were seamless. The few questions we had were answered almost instantly via text message.

The front door needs a screen, so you can keep the door open and enjoy the view without flies. A full length mirror somewhere would be nice And I notice the screens are in backwards. So people from the outside can open them The tabs on the screen should be facing inside.

Would boy stay on the Strand again. The traffic with load, blaring music, bumper to bumper until at least 2 a.m. with so many people staying in the strand, the city should close the road at a decent time so vacationers can sleep. The bed was as hard a a rock but the location cannot be beat if you dont mind loud traffic til 2 a m. The rental had everything we needed . The customer service and communication from Beachfront Only is impeccable. We would definitely rent again through Beachfront only but would ask about comfort and stay away from The Strand.

This is our favorite beachfront rental! We have stay at this one twice now and the location is perfect! I can sit inside and watch the waves of the ocean on the colder days and sit on the front porch on warmer days. All the food and pier a 10 minute walk. The beach house has everything that you would need.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. It is a great location within walking distance to anything we need. Love the ocean views, the people and dog watching. Don’t particularly love that cars drive in front of the house all day and night. But that is just part of being on the Stand. I think you need to provide more blankets as there was only the comforter. Also it would be nice to more tables in the living room and more lamps. Since it rained most of the time we were there a deck of cards or board games would have been nice. Also people need to know that the door locks automatically so keep the code close at hand!! But it is a great place and we will be back.

It was FREEZING inside when we arrived, so if someone could have come and flipped on the unit heater a bit ahead of time that would have been nicke. Also the only issue that the owner might want to be advised about is the fact that you cannot run two floor heaters (supplied) at the same time or it trips the breaker. Also, if you run the heater for the unit and plug a second heater to the higher plugs (to avoid two on the lower) it blows that breaker as well. I

We loved our stay! Clean and small, perfect for 2. No sharing walls or ceilings with other tenants which was great! The view was the best! I spent many hours just watching the waves and ever changing colors of the sunrises and the sunsets. Just beautiful! The only trouble we had was no heater and the nights were quite chilly. We found a portable heater in the closet which made the last 2 nights cozy and warm. Overall loved our stay! Thanks!

We really liked staying there except for all of the traffic coming thru till late at night. Would have been perfect otherwise. The kitchen was well equipped as we never had to go out for dinner, just bought fresh fish and stayed in. The view was exceptional, but traffic made it a little less desirable. Because we live in Arizona seeing the water was what we wanted so I do have to say this property made it great. Next time I think we will stay off of the Strand as it seems to be for the younger generation. Thanks so much!!

Everything was perfect!! Location, the cottage, and parking. Very clean, very well appointed. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean can not be beat!! Watching the sunset on the patio was fabulous!! Only con, the curtain rod on front window comes apart when you pull drapes. First world pronlems!! I would stay here again, I will stay here again!! It was amazing! I suggested the location to multiple friends and they said they would check you guys out. Just wanted to let you know you have termites and some type of other bug. They were weaving through all the towels in the closet and the window seal in the bathroom. I shook out the pillows and washed the blankets I used. But I would not trade this vacation for the world the cottage was quaint amazing views and in the center of everything.

You couldn't be any closer to the beach without getting wet. Loved hearing the crashing waves. We picked this place because we could have our dog with us and most places don't allow dogs. The place is very small but very efficient and has everything you need for two people. My only recommendation would be to move the couch bed in front of the TV and place a small table and chairs in front of the window that looks out at the ocean. This way you can play cards or eat meals there. Otherwise it was perfect.

Great house! Close to water, also close to a lot of traffic

The house and property were perfect. Everythinv was in good working order, and nice and clean. This property is literally steps from the water. At low tide a small strip of beach is right in front if the house. Oceanside City Beach is also a block away, easy walking distance. The only downside to this property is being on the Strand, there is a constant stream of cars and people going back and forth in front of the house all day from 7 AM to 8 PM. If you're looking for privacy and peace, this is not it. If you love the action and want to be right in the middle of it, I can't recommend this property enough. Second time staying at a Beachfront Only property and would definitely stay with them again!

Best Location EVER

This little cottage was steps from the ocean, location was absolutely amazing. Loved sitting on the porch or at the living room windows watching the waves roll in and hearing the crash as they hit the rocks right in front of us. Beautiful sunsets and even a full moon made it even more breathtaking. Only had one complaint, the couch had been shampooed and was so wet we couldn’t sit on it, but used the chairs instead. If I ever go back to Oceanside, this is definitely where I would choose to stay.

First the location was wonderful for us! the cottage was very well equipped! this cottage was advertised as a ocean front view! Everything was wonderful, but unfortunately the front window had no clarity or visibility to even see thru anymore, it needs to be replaced for sure!! Beachfront management company was lovely to work with, will definitely use them again!!! Hoping the window is fixed soon and then we will be there again! This house was exactly what we were looking for, quaint but well kept. Right on the ocean. Loved the late afternoon stream of cars cruising the strand. All kinds of great vehicles. At night though it was completely quiet and restful. Kitchen was nicely stocked with what you need to cook with the the grill in the back was in perfect order.

Fantastic Stay

This cute little cottage is great for two people. Location is ideal - right on the water and within walking distance of most everything.. When it’s too chilly outside we move inside to sit by the big window looking out on the ocean. Dolphins and a seal would come by some mornings to say hi. Property management very responsive

It worked for us

This is a good property for a couple. I would not want to stay here with kids. There are two properties in the back which would be better for a family as they are not right on the the strand. This is an older property that has been renovated. I would guess this was built in the 50's. If you are not familiar with the strand, it is a one way street that runs between the property and the ocean. During our stay, there was a constant stream of cars, walkers, bikers etc cruising this street. There is a small front porch to sit and watch the action if you are interested. It was also nice for watching the surfers & sunsets. There is not a beach directly in front of the property. There are big rocks going down to the ocean. At low tide there might be some sand, but I wouldn't count on it. There is a nice beach within a short 5 min walk. We enjoyed walking to the pier and to the several restaurants nearby, within 1/2 mile. There is parking for two cars right beside the unit, which was nice. The property didn't lack for the essentials, however there aren't any "beach" amenities, such as beach chairs, boogie board, beach wagon etc. I normally wouldn't expect this, but we did stay at a place previously that provided all this, which was nice. I didn't get a chance to let management know, so if you are reading this, you need a new tea kettle. The handle is busted. The following is not a knock on the property, but in general, the whole area needed a good rain storm, as in a bath. I guess that could be said for the entire West Coast.

Great place for two to get away and relax at the ocean. Beach access was a short walk either direction. Right on the strand so great for looking at the ocean, people watching and walks with the dog. Nice amenities but kitchen sink is very small, bar sink that makes washing anything larger than a plate a little difficult. Overall very nice.

We enjoyed our stay here, you can’t get any closer to the ocean. We loved hearing it every night. It was clean and just the right size for the two of us. The kitchen was well stocked with everything that we needed. There were plenty of linens for use at the beach or in the room. The house was cozy and comfortable. The only thing that might be a good addition would be a couple beach chairs.

Dreamy Stay

We loved our little cottage on the edge of the ocean. The cottage is perfect for two people (or two people with small children). Others have described it as small... no way. We got in-home massages and had plenty of room for the table and service in the living room. The kitchen came with spices and any cooking pans, utensils, appliances you might need. The bathroom was spacious and the best part is keeping the door and windows open to hear the ocean 24/7. We loved sitting by the window and watching the ocean and people.

We were one of 3 couples wanting to get away in a responsible, social distance fashion. Got 3 properties so we could have our own space and ours was facing the ocean on the strand. Busy and festive during the day but quieted nicely for sleeping. We brought fin one night and barbecued the next. A very satisfying 3 days and two nights:)

Great Location

The location can't be beat. Just steps away from the beach. Short walk to the pier but far enough away from the crowds. Clean condo. Small kitchen though. Only seats two at a bar. But outside there is a picnic bench so we could eat and watch the ocean. The biggest problem we had when booking was the condo we picked was suppose to sleep 5, but when we showed up we were in a different condo and it only slept 4. The property management company was quick to respond and help. Would definitely book again.

My family had a wonderful experience on Beachfrononly property. Perfect place to stay, walking distance to the pier. Great patio for kids. I personally enjoy staying that close to the beach, we could listen to the waves crazing with the rocks, when the tide was up, and jump in the ocean when the time got low.
